The Story of
Stjerne Camping
an established tradition
For generations, Stjerne Camping has been a place where people come together to enjoy nature, the camping lifestyle, and time spent with one another. Situated amidst the sea, heath, and forest, the site has evolved with the times—yet without losing what makes it special: the tranquility, the sense of presence, and the unique atmosphere of the North Sea coast.
For many guests, Stjerne Camping has become a cherished tradition—a place they return to year after year. Not just for the beach and the natural surroundings, but for the feeling of coming back to something familiar.
From then to now

Over the years, the site has expanded and been modernized with new facilities, cabins, and year-round options.
Yet the vision behind the place remains the same: to create a peaceful setting for a holiday close to nature.
Under the same stars since 1971
It all began in 1971, when Jakob Christiansen established Stjerne Camping on the family farm, Fugltoftgård.
He came up with the name “Stjerne Camping” (Star Camping) during a trip to the island of Funen. He was inspired by an area where the roads were named after planets, sparking the idea for a campsite where guests could holiday beneath the stars. Consequently, the site’s lanes were named after zodiac signs—a concept that remains a vital part of Stjerne Camping’s identity.
Here in Vejers, the night sky is truly special. With minimal light pollution, you can enjoy an exceptionally clear view of the stars. That is why we make a conscious effort to limit artificial lighting on the grounds. To us, darkness is not something to be fought; it is part of the experience, creating space for tranquility, togetherness, and the natural light of the stars.
Stjerne Camping remains family-owned, and much of what made the place special back then lies at the heart of the experience today. Here, camping is about being present, a sense of community, and respect for nature—a place where generations can create memories together under the same starry sky.
There must be room here for…

The West Coast is close by
One of the special things about Stjerne Camping is its location amidst the natural landscape of West Jutland.
Here, you will find:
- Wide sandy beaches
- Dunes and heathland
- Vast, open landscapes
- Wildlife close at hand
- A starry sky free from light pollution
Nature sets the pace here – and that is precisely why so many people choose to return.
One of the special features of the area around Stjerne Camping is the vast, open landscape where nature is allowed to take center stage.
We are located close to the military training area near Oksbøl, so occasional exercises may take place in the vicinity. For those of us who love the West Coast, this is a natural part of the area—and also one of the reasons why the landscape here still feels so vast, peaceful, and unspoiled.

The Future of Stjerne Camping
We aim to continue developing Stjerne Camping with consideration for our guests, the local area, and the surrounding nature.
Not to become the biggest.
But to preserve what makes this place special.
A place you want to return to.
Year after year.
